Frederic Columbus Davant's Obituary
Frederic Columbus Davant went to be with the Lord on 9/27/13. Born in Union Point, GA on 12/12/17, he grew up in Miami, graduating from Miami High School in 1935, from University of Florida in 1941 and then from Law School at UF in 1948. He married Marian Elizabeth Sloan in 1941. He is proceeded in death by two sons, Davis Davant and Fred Davant Jr. and survived by his wife, Marian Davant, sons, Stuart Davant and Norman Davant, his daughter, Sloan Davant, daughter in law, Teresa Davant , 5 Grandchildren, Charlie Davant, DJ Davant, Kimberly Witkowski, Travis Davant and Kevin Witkowski, Great Grandchildren, Graham Davant, Noah Davant, Lincoln Davant, Liam Davant and Ivy Jean Davant. He was commissioned in the U.S. Army while at University of Florida and in 1942 he was called to active duty, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp. From 1948 to 1982 he practiced law in Miami, serving as VP of the Miami Jaycees, President of the Young Lawyers Assoc., VP of the Dade County Bar Assoc., Judge of the City of Miami Court, Commissioner of the City of Miami, Commander of the American Legion and Commodore of the Coral Reef Yacht Club. He will be sorely missed by all. He requested that instead of sending flowers to his funeral, you send flowers, a card, candy or a gift to someone you love and let them know how much you love them. Or perhaps to someone you have become estranged from or for any other reason… Services will be held on Monday, 9/30/13 at l:00 pm at Riverside Baptist Church 10775 SW 104th Street, Miami, Florida, followed by internment at Miami Memorial Park.
