Frances Rogers 84, Passed away peacefully on May 8. Born in Whitesboro TX on Jan. 29, 1927 raised in Mass. & moved to Miami as a young adult. She met her husband to be Joseph J. Pettit Jr. at the Miami American Legion Hall dance & the two have been loving sweethearts for almost 60 years. Predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law Linda (Ben D’Amico). She is survived by her loving husband Joseph, and son John (Mary) Pettit. She was the president of the Santa Clara Elementary School PTA, part time accountant for a few large Miami service stations & eventually the Owner & General Manager of Pettit Dodge in Waynesville, NC being the only female owned new car dealer in NC. She & Joe were avid Square Dancers and would jump at the chance to square up many times a week throughout the U.S. They also were extensive travelers visiting the entire U.S. & many, many countries around the world. Her beautiful smile will be greatly missed. She is survived by her brother Bill (Dorothy), 6 grandchildren Lorie Winer, John Satterfield, Jessica Satterfield, Michael D’Amico, Britni Pettit & Erin Pettit. 4 great grandchildren Nicole Winer, Lila Satterfield, Julia Satterfield & Kayle D’Amico. Visitation for family & friends will be held at Van Orsdel Kendall Chapel on Friday May 13, from 6pm to 10pm, services at 8pm. A graveside service will be held at Flagler Memorial Park on Sat. May 14, at 10am. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions in her honor to The Deering Estate Foundation, 16701 SW 72 Ave. Palmetto Bay, Fl 33157 .
