FRANCES K SHAMAS's Obituary
SHAMAS, Frances Kreed Shamas, 93, peacefully passed away on January 5, 2019. Born in Seminary, MS, she was the youngest of eight children. Growing up as part of the Greatest Generation, she and her sisters would leave the farm to attend USO dances held in Hattiesburg, MS, which is where she met her husband while based there during WWII. Embarking on the adventure of becoming a Pan Am stewardess, she moved to Miami. He soon followed, they were married, and established their home in Coral Gables. Flying just one year, Kreed then worked for Standard Oil. Upon starting their family, she devoted herself to being a full-time mother and homemaker. Throughout the years she volunteered at school and church, was Cub Scout and Brownie leader, Room Mother, and avid bridge player. She is predeceased by her husband of over 66 years, George Shamas. She is survived by her children Mike (Mary), daughter Becky (Gregg), and grandchildren Kevin Shamas, Emory and Grayson Guilford. We wish to express our gratitude to her loving caregiver Anita Baker. A graveside service will be held Friday, January 11 at 1:00 pm at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn North 3260 SW 8 Street. Reception and family visitation following the service.
