FLORENCE JOSIAH's Obituary
Florence Josiah passed peacefully into the presence of God early on the morning of July 31, 2018. Florence, who preferred to go by “Josiah,” was born on September 13, 1925, in Long Island, New York. She was a vivacious lady who, along with her 3 siblings, overcame the loss of her mother at a young age, survived the years of the Great Depression, and went on to live a long and full life. Florence was predeceased by her sister, Estelle A. Wittholz, who passed away in early January, 2018. She is survived by two brothers, George Josiah and Wesley Josiah. Florence is laid to rest at The Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, Maryland. A graveside service was held on August 10, 2018. Florence’s career included many years as a professional singer with a successful cruise line, followed by many years as appointment secretary to the Mayor of Miami, Dade County. She was a lady of spirit, “joie de vivre,” and had a great sense of humor. In the latter years of her life, she placed her faith in God, and now rests in His presence.
