Esther M MacInnes' Obituary
Esther Maria Gonzalez MacInnes
8/11/1930 to 11/12/2016
Esther was born in Miami, Florida and attended Miami High School graduating in 1949. She married, Don MacInnes, on August 17, 1952 and enjoyed 64 years of marriage to the love of her life. Together they raised and nurtured 5 sons and 1 daughter. She attended the University of Florida as did her husband and all of her children. Esther was one of four sisters, Olga, Zeida, and Gloria who all predeceased her and are finally together again.
Her accomplishments were many; she served as President for many of the organizations that she held dear: Epiphany Home and School Association, Lourdes Academy High School, South Miami Garden Club, and the Gilded Lilies.
Esther loved to take cruises and travel. She loved to travel to Gator football games with her husband and 5 Gator sons and Gator daughter. She enjoyed the Garden Club conventions and the activities all around the State. The annual Gilded Liles Luncheon and Fundraiser at Rusty Pelican was one of her favorite events. Esther was a friend to everyone she met. She loved her family with unconditional love that sustained us in all kind of weather. Esther loved to smile, sing, dance, and simply enjoy life to the fullest.
She is survived by her husband, Donald, their six children, and their families: Donald Jr., David and Maria MacInnes, RobRoy and Brenda MacInnes, Dennis and Diane MacInnes, Henry and Nicole MacInnes, and Ellen and Anthony Hackett. Her beloved grandchildren: David Jr., James, Madison, RobRoy Jr. (Alex), Nathan, Matthew, Sean, Michael, Chris, Colleen (Tony), Ryan, Alexa, Erin, Ginger and Jack; Great-Grandchildren: RobRoy III, Brayden, Lily, Rylan, and Riley.
In lieu of flowers, Esther’s family is asking that if you would like to send a gift to celebrate her life, please donate to her favorite charity supported by the fundraising efforts of the Gilded Lilies: Easterseals South Florida, 1475 N.W. 14th Ave., Miami, FL 33125
