ERIC RICHARD ARMSTRONG's Obituary
Eric Richard Armstrong, born 8/8/1966, in Boston, MA, passed to his heavenly home, February 17, 2020 in Miami, FL. Eric lost his battle with traumatic injuries suffered December 22, 2019 after being hit by a car traveling wrong way at an intersection in Miami, FL. Eric came into our family at age 3-1/2 years. He was a very energetic little one and shared his young life with is sister and brother at our farmhouse home in central New Hampshire. Later in life he and our family moved to Maryland where Eric excelled in soccer, gymnastics and other sports.
He entered the military, served in Operation Desert Storm and is a V.A. Veteran. He is
remembered as being a free spirit who loved being himself but appreciated his fellow veterans who were also suffering. He loved fishing, especially with friends. Recently the V.A.took Eric and other veterans to Key Largo where he was lowered into the water to “swim” with the dolphins. He talked and talked about that experience.
Eric was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Margaret & Merritt Greene; paternal grandparents Robert & Verna Armstrong; and longtime companion, Kim Nodzak. He is survived by his loving Mother and Father, Gail & Bob Armstrong, his brother R. Duane Armstrong (Elizabeth & 14 year old nephew, Robert), sister Amy Elizabeth Armstrong (8 year old niece, Amya Gail Armstrong); aunts Lois Greene Jackson & Wanda Greene Herman, uncle Jon Greene, Uncle Jim & Aunt Rose, and cousins, Bart Greene, Keith Jackson, Rob Greene, Matthew Herman, Jeremy Herman, June Herman, Andrea Greene Farish, Becky, Amanda & Scott, Sheri Greene Elroy & Susan Jackson Mooney, plus countless friends.
The music of Bruce Springsteen was his very favorite music. We can hear Eric playing Bruce’s songs on the piano and singing along – Born to Run, “We’re gonna get to that place Where we really wanna go and we’ll walk in the sun, But ‘til then, tramps like us Baby, we were born to run.”
We all wish Eric peace, free from pain, as he is received with our Heavenly Father. Services are pending.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors at Ryder Trauma Hospital for their compassion and caring of Eric during his almost two months stay there. Also, the Veterans Administration has been remarkable in their care of Eric over countless years and they are thanked as well.
