Emilia Riego de Dios Sanchez's Obituary
Emilia Riego de Dios Sanchez was born in Maragondon, Cavite, Philippines, on June 30th, 1926. She was the 6th out of 8 children to Eulogio Riego de Dios and Pilar Alivis. Emilia is also known by her loved ones as Aming and Nanny.
Emilia was married to Abundio Sanchez (deceased) and had two children, Jean and Cesar (deceased). She was a first grade teacher and although she was very strict, she was well loved by the barrio residents who were her former pupils.
In 1992, Emilia came to Miami from the Philippines to take care of her only grandchild, Allison. She did not only take care of Alli, but Jean and Alan as well. She took care of us by cooking, the cleaning, and the gardening, which are things she loved to do. Nanny loved sports, especially basketball (Miami Heat), boxing, and wrestling. She was a big fan of Manny Pacquiao. Nanny loved to eat and would always ask Alan to order food from an Asian restaurant. Nanny is also known as a fashionista. At first glance, one thing everyone notices about Nanny is that her outfit has to match, including all of her accessories, such as her shoes, bags, and even umbrellas. Nanny was always known as the “cool grandma” who always went out with her matching fedora hat and sunglasses.
May you rest in peace, Nanny, and be reunited with your loved ones in Heaven.
