My condolences go out to the family at the loss of such a great human being. I had the honor of being friends with him throughout most of our formative years. From primary school onward, he was a gentle, sweet and somewhat shy at times. He was our tight knit group’s little brother. God bless his soul, and I know he is in a better place.
The first time I met Elvys and introduced myself, he smiled and said, “Laura, that’s a great name. My daughter’s name is Laura!” That’s what he did—he made you smile! I don’t’ think I know a person more kind and tender; whose soft spoken words drew you closer to him. You could see how genuine and caring he was by the way he made each and every one he met feel like they were special. He was always looking for ways to make things better, sharing advice and great ideas, and the most precious of all - time. His eyes would light up when he spoke about his family and how anxious he was to spend time with them. It has been an honor to have known Elvys. My life has been touched, my heart has been broken and his memory will be cherished.

I worked with Elvys at Cuhaci & Peterson. What I admired most about him is he saw the good in people. He noticed the potential of the young architects and was moving forward with mentoring them. What I will remember about him is every time he saw me he smiled. The last conversation with him was last Thursday when he said I have a desk for you right by me and I want you to work with me more closely down with the Wawa team. That meant so much to me. Knowing him was a blessing - he was a good man and touched many people while he was here.

Although I was not close to Elvys personally I feel as though I was through the stories and memories he created in the lives of those we interact with daily. Some memories that were created will forever be in the thoughts of those who interacted with him most, though statements like:
"He was the nicest person I have met."
"When I needed something he was always willing to stop what he was doing and help, no matter what I needed or how silly the request."
"I wish more people were like Elvys as he was an example of what we want to become."
"He was always so very kind."
These declarations and many more that are continuing to pour in show us that we all need an Elvys in our lives. His legacy is not the work he accomplished for the firm it is what has been written on the hearts of those he greatly impacted along the way..

I worked around Elvys not directly with him, but he always had a smile, always said hello and asked how my day way. When you talked to him you could tell that he was listening, truly listening and it felt like you knew him as a friend, even if you barely knew him outside of those brief exchanges. I hardly knew him, but I am grateful that I got the chance to know him the little that I did. Thank you for sharing him with us.

The first thing I noticed about Elvys was his calmness, no matter what was going on around him. His uncommon wisdom and maturity quickly earned my admiration and respect, even before I got to know him better. He will always be remembered by myself and my team for the positive impact on many levels he had; his character, his honesty, the wonderful advice he freely offered and the positive work ethic he exemplified. We will always remember him with appreciation, love and respect.
