Elizabeth Baldwin Pratt's Obituary
Elizabeth Baldwin Pratt, 106, passed away on February 19, 2011 in Dandridge, Tennessee after a brief illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, F. Donald Pratt, sister Mattie B. Harvey and brother H. Jackson Baldwin. She is survived by her daughters Elizabeth (Joe) Lavelle and Katherine (Gordon) Marshall of Dandridge, Tennessee, and Margaret (Bill) Croucher of Miami and Merritt Island; six grandchildren Joseph Lavelle, Carolyn Goins, Steven Marshall, Susan Marshall, Karen Trainor and Jeffrey Croucher, and eight great grandchildren, Isabella, Madeleine and Murphy Lavelle, Sarah, Anthony and Robert Goins, and Rowan and Ainsley Trainor.
Elizabeth was born in Callahan, Florida on December 23, 1904. The family moved to Miami in 1923. She married Donald Pratt in 1933, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1983 before his death the next year.
Elizabeth and Donald were founding members of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She was a member of the Pioneers/Natives of Dade, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Silver Club of First Methodist Church of Coral Gables.
She handled every adversity with uncommon strength, dignity, a positive attitude and a wonderful sense of humor. Our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Mass was said on Wednesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dandridge, Tennessee where Elizabeth spent time with her two daughters. Visitation in Miami will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm with a Rosary service at 7:00 pm on Friday, February 25th at Van Orsdel Funeral Chapel at 4600 S.W. 8th Street, Coral Gables, Florida. The funeral service will be at Van Orsdel Funeral Chapel at 11:00am on Saturday, February 26th with burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery North. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elizabeth’s memory to the American Cancer Society or to Catholic Charities of Miami.
