Obituary:
Elizabeth was born Elizabeth Lois Bower on August 25th, 1931, in Grove City, Pennsylvania,
to Irish Immigrants, Robert Charles Stanley Bower and Sarah Jane Hutchinson Bower.
She went Home with Jesus on June 2nd, 2024, while living with Sarah & Mike Melcher in Miami, Florida.
Having grown up as ‘Lois’, and well protected by her two brothers, Bob and Hugh, she graduated from McKinley High School, Niles, Ohio, and went on to receive an Associates Degree from Youngstown University in Youngstown, Ohio. There she met a young man who was in need of makeup for his part in the Minstrel Show, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Lois married Clayton Edward Linsley on September 29, 1950. Clayton went on to attend the Mortuary School of Science in Pittsburgh, PA. They set up house in a 3rd floor apartment in Shadyside. From there they would catch the trolley … Clayton for School and Lois for her job as a secretary for a local insurance agency. Lois went on to do just about any job that came her way: Mother, Secretary, Homemaker, Hair Dresser, Soloist, Choral Director, Seamstress, Baker, Florist and Business Partner.
Irish to the core, she enjoyed music and could often times be found around the piano with her brothers, her singing partner Lee Mowry or just to hang out with her long time pianist/organist friend, Do Fletcher.
Lois was born and raised Presbyterian, and enjoyed worshipping and serving in several different churches and denominations over the years.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Edward Linsley, and their daughter, Dorothy Elizabeth (Linsley) Patterson.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Sarah Margaret (Melcher), son-in-law Michael Melcher, son-in-law Charles Thomas Patterson (Connie), granddaughter Leslie Elizabeth Dahmen (Thomas ‘Toby’), grandson Robert Edward Patterson, two great-grandsons, Eric Thomas and Cole Michael Patterson, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
