Elaine T. Roye's Obituary
Elaine Therese Roye was born on March 29, 1958, in the community of Maverley, Kingston 20, Jamaica, to the late Kathleen Flash and Ezra Jones. Elaine attended Maverley All Age School, and later, Tivoli High School and then Duffs Business School where she honed her skills in the clerical field. She later went on to work for American International Underwriters (AIU) as a claim-underwriting-processing clerk.
In July 1987, she married Orrin Roye, and subsequently migrated to the United States in 1989 to be with her husband. In November 1989, she gave birth to her only child, Orrin Roye, Jr. In 1998, Orrin and Elaine divorced, but they maintained a great relationship with each other up until her passing.
While living in New York, she worked as a legal secretary with attorney Vincent Johnson at his law office in downtown Brooklyn.
Her love for the legal profession led her to enrol at Nova Southeastern University where she matriculated with a bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies, with an emphasis in immigration law.
She is survived by her son, Orrin Roye, Jr, brothers, sisters, aunt, uncle, nieces, nephews, grandnieces/grandnephews and cousins.
May her beautiful soul rest in peace.
