Leslie (Jacobus) Biggs
I met Elaine in 1960 when I was secretary to the president, Al Stalford, and the vice president, Paul M. Low, at what was then Institutional Mortgage Company. I found out quickly that it was Elaine who knew the mortgage business inside and out, and who handled new business, old business, and any problems at hand. Her sense of humor was always at the ready with a smart quip for any occasion, and I don't think there was anyone who didn't like her. She and I had many a good time together after work at the Dupont Plaza Center bar downtown. We didn't have far to go since the Institutional office was just a third floor elevator ride away. One time she and Joe drove us over to Marco Island (which I hadn't visited) insisting that we see the gorgeous beaches and bountiful shells. Of course, she always bragged about Michael, and how lucky she was to have him. After my divorce in 1966, I moved to California and lost touch with Elaine. I love the photo of her that was selected for this obituary because it totally captures her lovely, happy disposition. I send my heartfelt consolation to Bill Smail, Michael and all of her family.
