Elaine Granis Economou's Obituary
Elaine Granis Economou, born August 6th, 1926 in Chester, PA, passed Friday, April 16th of natural causes at the age of 94.
Elaine spent her younger years in the Chelsea area of New York City but moved to Miami, Florida and spent the rest of her life there. After graduating from Miami Senior High School, Elaine pursued her passion for singing at UM and NYU where she was accepted into the School of Dramatic Arts and continued to tap into her enthusiasm for song. At the peak of her singing career Elaine sang with the Stan Kenton jazz orchestra, and amidst WWII Elaine sang in the USO show, bringing smiles to the faces of war-hardened soldiers.
After her career in entertaining, Elaine spent the rest of her years performing her most coveted job, the role of Mother and Grandmother to Cleo, Matthew, and Justin Saenz. Even in her final years she lived life the only way she knew how to; with an abundance of happiness, love for her family, optimism about what was to come, and general contentment that allowed her to soak up the good in each passing moment. She was a bright spot in the lives of all who knew her and her legacy will live on through the many hearts she touched over the years.
Elaine's close family and friends will be celebrating her life Saturday, May 1st.
She is survived by her daughter Cleo, grandsons Matthew and Justin, granddaughters in law Alma and Hayden, and sister Norma Huttoe and family.
Elaine was an amazing lady and will be deeply missed, but her spirit will remain with us every day.
