Edward L. Soleo's Obituary
Edward Louis Soleo, age 91, of Miami, Florida, died peacefully with his family at his side on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born in West New York, New Jersey on December 7, 1927, and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Lucille Soleo (née DeSantis) on October 10, 1948 and recently celebrated 70 years of marriage with her. Throughout his career, he worked for Airmatic Systems, Inc. and the Mosler Safe Company installing pneumatic tube transport systems all over the United States. After retiring, he dedicated his time and talents to a family-owned restaurant business for the next 25 years. Edward was affectionately known to all as Pops, and he enjoyed reading, following current events, solving puzzles, but most of all being surrounded by his family and friends. He and his wife were also members of Elks Lodge #948, and the Italian Sons and Daughters of America Lodge #276. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents John and Rose Soleo (née Colonica), and his brother Vincent. He is survived by his wife Lucille; his son John; his daughter and son-in-law Patricia and John Zambolla; his grandchildren Jennifer, Jay, and Jessica, and their spouses; his great-grandchildren Alisa, Sabrina, Nicholas, Andrew, Sophia, and Giuliana; and his brother Frank.
Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 12 at the Van Orsdel Funeral Chapel in Kendall, followed by a mass at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 13 at Saint John Neumann Catholic Church. Contributions in memory of Mr. Soleo can be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org. The family is comforted by the knowledge that Pops is himself once again.
