I knew Col.Fogler quite well for the last 25 years of his life. I was the CEO of a large gold mine in Costa Rica and met him in Key Biscayne through a mutual friend in 1982. He accompanied me many time to Costa Rica and I got to know him well. He had great contacts all over South and Central America and I got friendly with many of them, especially members of the Church.
I learned so much about his military career and I tried to persuade him to write a book. He actually first reported to duty to Gen. Patton as a young officer ( tank command ) in 1940 i believe.
He help negotiate the lend lease act with Equator in 1942.
Here served under McArthur in Japan after the war. He was very active in the 1950s and 60s in the Americas.
I had many great times with him and will never forget him
He was a great diplomat by his nature.
