Dorothy Ellen Lang Norato's Obituary
A retired Risk Management supervisor of 30 years at Jackson Memorial/UM Hospital, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008. Dorothy had been battling a long illness and passed peacefully with her family around her at Jackson Memorial Hospital North. Born on Staten Island NY in 1935, Dorothy joined Northeast Airlines after High School as a flight attendant and was promptly based in Miami. Later, Dorothy joined United Airlines, also as a flight attendant, where she worked until several months pregnant with her first son Matthew. Dorothy so loved South Florida that she lived and worked here for the rest of her life, and vowed to never again live in the North. She joined Jackson Memorial Hospital in the early 1970's as a typist and rose t one of the highest positions in their Risk Management Department before retiring in 2003. Dorothy traveled extensively with her grandchildren, Jonathan and Sarah, and never truly lost her love of flying. Dorothy is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Lang, her married sons, Matthew (Martha) and Mark (Keri), as will as her grandchildren, Jonathan and Sarah. Dorothy will also be greatly missed by a number of friends including Elliot Greene and his family. A private memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 16th at Grace Lutheran Church in Miami Springs. Service starts at 1:00 PM with gathering afterwards at church.
