Dorothy Swanson Bennett, Born March 11, 1928, passed away January 5, 2015 at University of Miami Hospital, Miami, FL. Dorothy "Dottie" and her family, "The Swanson's", were one of the early residents of Coconut Grove residing there since 1933. She graduated in 1945 from Ponce de Leon High in Coral Gables. Her professional secretarial expertise resulted in being one of the most sought out employees, especially in the Dade County Courts. She served a lengthy tenure as private secretary to the late Dade County Probate Judge Frank B. Dowling before retiring in 1992. Dorothy was predeceased by her Mother and Father, Elsa and Carl Swanson. She is survived by brother, Carl A. Swanson (and Carolyn) of Augusta, GA and sister, Ruth Swanson Grimes of Severna Park, MD. Also nephews David (and Kim) of Bluffton, S.C. and Ron, of Augusta, GA, Dan A. Grimes of Severna Park, MD., niece Suzanne Grimes of Phila., PA, grand nephew Andrew and grand niece Sara, of Bluffton, S.C. Also a cousin in Canada, Eric Carlstrom (Joyce) and numerous cousins in Sweden. Dorothy was a long standing member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Immanuel Lutheran Church,1770 Brickel Ave. Miami, FL. 33129.
