Fitzgerald, Dolores (“Doe”)
Dolores passed away peacefully from heart failure on Friday, October 7th at South Miami Hospital surrounded by family and friends, many of whom were members of the South Florida Emerald Society.
She was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to Harry and Stephanie Stever and graduated from Oshkosh Business College. While working for Wisconsin Public Service, she met and married Dan Fitzgerald. During their 62 yr. marriage they lived in Pasadena, Ca. (where their son Michael was born); Having achieved Top Secret Clearance status as an executive secretary while at Hycon Mfg. she then followed her husband to Nashville, Tenn. as his career transitioned from acting to fashion retailing.
Their final stop was Miami where Dolores worked as executive secretary to the general agent for Northwestern Mutual Insurance Co.
When he retired, she worked for the Chief Financial Officer for Mayor’s Jewelers. She retired in 1985 when her husband had returned to acting in films.
A parishioner at St. Theresa, Church of the Little Flower, she devoted her life and love to her husband and son who were the center of her world and left them with a gigantic hole in theirs.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dolores’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Tuesday, Oct 11th from 6pm – 9pm at Van Orsdel Coral Gables Chapel, 4600 SW 8 St, Coral Gables. A Mass will be held on Wednesday, Oct 12th at 11:30am at St. Theresa, Church of the Little Flower, 2711 Indian Mound Trail, Coral Gables, 33134.
