DIEGO JOSE PROCEL's Obituary
Diego Jose Procel, a devoted husband, father, and respected patriarch, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 7, 2024, in Miami, Florida, at the age of 61. He was born in 1962, in Quito, Ecuador, to Renee de Procel and the late Jose Procel.
Diego was a hard-working and driven individual who dedicated his life to the real estate developer industry. After graduation from his beloved University of Texas in 1987 with a degree in engineering, he returned to his native Ecuador where he began his career at his family's construction company, Pichincha Constructores, and later established his own successful construction firm, Denuria. Upon his eventual return to the United States, Diego has worked with some of the industry‘s most prestigious real estate firms in south Florida before co-founding Global City Development, a venture that achieved significant success and recognition.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Diego had a diverse range of interests. He excelled in track and field during his high school years, was an enthusiastic Formula One racing fan, and found endless entertainment in the pages of Stephen King novels. He was a proud supporter of the military, inspired by his son Miles's service as a U.S. Marine. Diego had hoped to enjoy his retirement years in the picturesque beauty of the horse country of Virginia, together with his wife. He cherished his two miniature Schnauzers, Maximus and Hunter, and had a deep passion for nature, wildlife preservation, and horseback riding.
Diego is survived by his loving wife, Suzanna Procel, of Aventura, FL; sons Ignacio Procel (Elizabeth) of Richardson, TX, and Miles Procel (Jasmine) of Durham, NC; his mother, Renee de Procel, of Quito, Ecuador; as well as his siblings, extended family in Quito, Ecuador, and numerous friends across the United States.
A Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024, at 10 AM at the Church of the Little Flower, located at 2711 Indian Mound Trail, Coral Gables, 33134. The arrangements are being handled by Van Orsdel Funeral and Cremation Services in Miami, FL.
Diego Jose Procel will be remembered as a charismatic, charming man with a great sense of humor, loved by many for his kindness and dedication to his family and community. His legacy of hard work, passion for life, and unwavering support for those he loved will forever be cherished.
