DEBBIE ROBERTS's Obituary
Ilene H. McCarthy Roberts known as Debbie was a devoted daughter, mother, and sister. Debbie was born on February 9, 1925 in Cresson Pennsylvania to Susann Fifick McCarthy and James Maxwell McCarthy. She had a love of life, family, and her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that was unmatched. In her 40s, Debbie was determined to have her own unique identify and she decided she would be called Debbie. From that point on, she would not respond to Ilene — only to Debbie. Debbie retired from Dade County Public Schools in the 70s and she spent the next forty years by her twin sister Irene’s side. Ilene and Irene were inseparable all of their lives. They loved being twins, but each also loved having their own identity and style. Their favorite thing to do, outside of serving and praying was singing. They always delighted younger audiences with their renditions of folk Irish songs. Debbie was a fervent prayer warrior and she spent most of her days praying for family and friends in need. Debbie gave so much of herself for others, always with a smile on her face, and expecting little in return. Debbie served others all her life and she volunteered at the Camilus House with her sister Irene daily to help and feed the homeless population in Downtown Miami. She was pre-deceased by her loving daughter, Susan who was the light of her life. Debbie is survived by her niece and primary caretaker Mary Carol Hullihen Boring, Sister Vickie Cahill, Great Nephew Todd B Boring, and Great Great Niece Taylor Christine Boring. Debbie lived to the ripe age of 96 years old and passed peacefully on November 8, 2021.
