Dayton Ezekiel Smith Sr.'s Obituary
Smith, Dayton E. Sr, 85, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2012, with his loving wife Joan of 65 years by his side, his four children and other family members. He was born in Portland, OR and raised in White Plains, NY. A Miami resident for 65 years who served in the Navy during WWII , graduated from Fordham Prep in NY, and the University of Miami with a degree in accounting. He was formerly the Treasurer of Aerodex, Inc., also Frank B. Hall Insurance (AON), Nova University, and the Episcopal Chapel at the University of Miami. He served as Treasurer of Towngate Homeowners Assoc. He was a great sports fan, especially the Miami Hurricanes and the Heat. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great- grandfather. Survived by Kathy Steinbauer (John), Diane Lee (Terry), Regina Thomsen (Tom), and Dayton Jr., (Nancy). Additionally, grandchildren Douglas Ferencik, Christine Lee Kriss, Natalie Pfister Riha, Zachary and Madeleine Smith. Also great-grandchildren Christopher Ferencik and Griffin Kriss. Memorial service will be held Thursday, March 22, at 2 p.m. at Kendall Presbyterian Church, 8485 SW 112th Street. As Dayton so loved children, in lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Kendall Christian School at the church.
