Dan Fitzgerald has been an inspiration to young actors for decades and will long be remembered for his leadership, warmth, comittment to family, union service, talent, dulcet tones and humor. I have had the pleasure of working with Dan throughout my career both on screen and off. During his time as SAG President, Dan urged me to serve on the local Board. How could I refuse? Dan later tapped me to fill in for him during a National meeting where I learned the extent of his love for actors through testimonials from leaders across the country who admired and respected him. His shoes were impossible to fill but it has been an honor to do my best to give back to our union with his blessing for the last 18 years. Dan had a profound impact on my life and will forever be in my heart. My sincere condolences and admiration go out to his family.
