Dale Upton Moseley Sr.'s Obituary
Dale Upton Moseley, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, went to heaven to be with the Lord on December 7, 2024. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and inspiration to all who had the honor of knowing him.
Dale is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Betty Scarborough Moseley, who stood by his side throughout a lifetime of shared adventures. Together, they raised six children: Pamela (Randall) Mayers, Melinda (Al) Bucknam, Dale Jr. (Mary) Moseley, Jacqueline (Richard) Seiling, Joy (Pedro) Palenzuela, and Christine (Jeff) Hartsook. His family grew to include 19 cherished grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Born with an indomitable spirit as a Miami native, Dale excelled from an early age. At Edison Sr. High School, he captained both the volleyball and basketball teams and excelled on the track team in long jump and the 440. His coach had hoped to include him on the football team until Dale’s protective mother, Lillian Nichols Moseley, president of the PTA, quietly intervened.
Dale pursued higher education with distinction, earning a degree in Electrical Engineering from Rice University, where he attended on a full scholarship. Always a scholar-athlete, Dale went on to set a record in the long jump for the Southwest Conference for Rice University—a record that stood for many years before being broken. Later, he expanded his expertise at Harvard through its program for small business owners, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to learning and growth. He was an avid reader; books were always close by.
For 58 years, Dale owned and operated Flamingo Oil Company, growing the business to one of the largest lubricant oil distributors in the state of Florida. Known as a brilliant businessman, Dale earned deep respect from colleagues, employees, and customers alike for his integrity and vision.
Dale’s life was marked not only by professional achievement but also by his unwavering dedication to family. He was a man of wisdom, warmth, and quiet strength, always leading by example. His kindness and keen sense of humor endeared him to everyone who crossed his path.
Dale’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him. His legacy serves as a beacon of what it means to live a life of purpose, generosity, and love of family.
A celebration of Dale’s life will be held at Crossbridge Church in Pinecrest at 6690 SW 88th Street, on January 11, 2025-Saturday at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bible Study Fellowship,
