DR DALE LYNN MCCORD's Obituary
Born August 23 1942 in Jackson Mississippi to Paula Bell and William Jerry McCord, Dr. Dale Lynn McCord went to Murphy High School where he met his loving wife Brenda Crabbe McCord - they married in 1963.
As a young man Dale loved being with his brothers Bill and Larry, acting, and sports. He even was runner up for the lead the Old Yeller and when he attended Georgia Tech he achieved an impressive walk-on batting average with the Baseball Team.
With the support of Brenda providing for the family, Dale attended the Medical College of Georgia. Dale was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society.
He served in the Army in Vietnam as a Flight Surgeon - he received a Purple Heart for his service.
Upon returning from Vietnam, Dale completed Residency Training for Radiation Oncology at the University of Florida.
In 1972 he founded Atlanta Oncology Associates where Dale built 12 cancer centers in underserved rural areas in Georgia and Northwest Florida. Inspired by their father’s compassion for patient care both Mark McCord and Michael McCord joined Atlanta Oncology to grow the family’s mission for patients - since then Atlanta Oncology has provided cancer care to tens of thousands of patients in need.
Dale is survived by his wife Brenda McCord, two sons Mark McCord and Michael McCord, their spouses Rachel McCord and Viviana McCord, and four wonderful grandchildren Jacob, Noah, Stella and Harrison Dale McCord.
Dale wanted to help everyone and he did.
