Craig Broas' Obituary
Robert Craig Broas (November 5th, 1971– November 18th, 2023)
Robert Craig Broas, 52, of Miami, Fl., passed away suddenly in his home on November 18th, 2023.
Craig was the first son of Robert and Eileen Broas (née Lilley) born in Houston, Texas. He was the first grandchild of his paternal grandparents, Robert and Roetta Broas (both deceased) and his maternal grandparents, Johnie Lilley (deceased) and Evelyn Ahlf Lilley O’Dea. At two months old the family moved to Miami, Florida where Craig was raised and attended Glades Jr. High, Christopher Columbus and Killian Sr. High before taking some courses in trade schools and later on becoming a carpenter. Craig and his friends were practically inseparable throughout their youths and maintained a relationship throughout their lives. They had great times from baha-ing through Hidden Lake in the Yugo to chilling out with friends socializing to working on cars. Craig was passionate about his custom carpentry from his early days working with Tom and then Bob, his mentor, to later on have his own business, Interiors by Craig.
In 1997, Craig was overjoyed with the birth of his son, Kyle Jordan Broas. Kyle meant the world to him and he guided and loved his son very much. From the early days in soccer to watching meteor showers together on the roof, Craig loved hanging out with his buddy. In December 2005, Craig met the love of his life, Mariola “Mary” Seco, and the two instantly became one. Mary’s children Julian, Lanie and Leila became Craig’s children and he loved and raised them as his own. In 2010, Craig moved the family to their beautiful home in Little Elm TX, a suburb of Dallas. They met many new friends and enjoyed their time there until their recent move back to Miami earlier this year.
Craig enjoyed outings with both family and friends from go-cart parks to parties and get togethers. He and Mary enjoyed the vacations they had and they were looking forward to continue to travel. One of Craig’s favorite roles was that as a grandparent. He treasured their time with their granddaughters, Skylar and Raelyn, and he loved being their PawPaw having enjoyed many treasured moments from Disney Parks to Water Parks. He loved gaming such as Evony on his phone and PC games like Medal of Honor and Command and Conquer. He was always well loved in each of the games he played and made many friends from around the world. Craig had a soft spot for his furry friends throughout the years: Charlie, Lulu and Kendall, treating each and every one like the valuable family member they were. He petted every dog we encountered on the street and we never met a dog that didn’t like Craig! In the grease and gears of car engines, the intricate circuits of computers, or anything you could tinker with, Craig found his refuge and joy. Craig was that rare gem who seamlessly blended his passion for machines with a love of nature and his passion for fostering genuine connections. He was always trying to think of a better way. Craig was an unwavering pillar of support and friendship. His loyal and compassionate nature, akin to the dedication he poured into tackling any project, left an indelible mark on those lucky enough to call him a friend. His absence has left a void in the hearts of those who cherished his friendship.
Craig will always be remembered for his sense of humor, his infectious and cheerful smile, sticking his tongue out, his passion for coffee especially his “cafe con leche” and the way he didn’t take himself too seriously. We’ll always imagine hearing him say “kick em in the shins” and “you want coffee?” one more time. Craig was always the life of the party wherever he went with his special smile and witty humor that would light up the room. We couldn’t have asked for a better husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, cousin and friend. We will miss Craig every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved and knew him for he was a kind, generous, fun-loving and beautiful soul.
Craig is survived by his wife, Mariola “Mary”; his children, Kyle, Julian, Lanie and Leila; his parents, Robert and Eileen; his grandmother Evelyn; his siblings, Keith and Megan (Jason); his nephew and nieces, Isaac, Shelby, LilleyRose and Kimberly; his granddaughters, Skylar and Raelyn; his paternal aunt and uncle and many cousins.
