Corey Brookes Beaver's Obituary
Corey Brookes Beaver, age 27, passed away on July 14, 2024, in Miami, Florida. Born on April 24, 1997, in Concord, North Carolina, Corey was a beloved son to Kristin and Anthony Beaver, brother to Andrew, Ashley Escude (Carl), and Jessica Beaver. He is also survived by his maternal grandfather, Richard Rigsby, along with aunts Alison Dancy, Susan (Bobby) Sides, Michele Beaver, and many cherished cousins and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Patricia Rigsby and paternal grandparents Marjorie and Wesley Beaver.
Corey attended China Grove Elementary, South Rowan High, and SRHS-RCCC Fire Academy, graduating in 2016. He further pursued his education at RCCC of Salisbury, North Carolina in Fire Technologies and Rookie Training and was studying computer technology at Sheridan Community College of Hollywood, Florida at the time of his passing.
Dedicated to serving his community, Corey was a volunteer firefighter with Landis and Atwell Township Fire Departments, where he was recognized as the highest honored rookie in Fire Academy Class No. 25. He also volunteered at the Horse Protection Society of North Carolina.
A man of faith, Corey was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. His hobbies included being a computer and technology enthusiast, reading, swimming at the beach, and equine training at Highland Hill Trails & Stables. Corey was passionate about new adventures, taking walks with loved ones and flying with his Pop-Pop Rigsby. He enjoyed a good laugh, watching movies, caring for animals, and family celebrations.
A private memorial service will be held at West Lawn Memorial Cemetery, officiated by Father John Putnam. Van Orsdel Funeral Home (Midtown Chapel) in Miami, Florida, is assisting the family with the arrangements. The family will respond at a later date and time to any calls, texts messages, or gifts of bereavement.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Horse Protection Society of North Carolina, Inc., the Main Street Mission, both located in China Grove, North Carolina or the North Carolina Fire Fighters Fund. Corey will be remembered for his love of family, friends, animals, and his commendable dedication to community service.
