LEYBOURNE,
Charlotte Catherine-Cox Leybourne (1915-2012).
Mrs. Charlotte Leybourne passed away on March 15, 2012 at the age of 96. She was the widower to the late James Leybourne, a former Bank President. Mrs. Leybourne was a pioneer resident of Miami, Florida who moved to Miami in 1940.
Charlotte comes from one of the "first" families of Virginia. She is a direct descendant of the former Governor of Virginia, DinWiddle, who served as governor of Colonial Virginia. She was a member of the Board of Governors for the Miss. Universe Pageant, named among the "Who’s Who of American Women" in the South and South West regions, and maintained membership in several of Miami's country clubs.
Her son, Leonard Fite, an International Airline Pilot, preceeded Charlotte in death. Viewing will be held on March 20, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on March 21, 2012 at 1:00 p.m.; at VAN ORSDEL CORAL GABLES CHAPEL (4600 S.W. 8th Street; Coral Gables, FL).
