I have fond memories of my Uncle Charlie. One memory that stands out is when I was riding in a little sport Fiat car with him in Princeton, Illinois. It was in 1980. I was 15. He was a speed-demon driving through the city streets, flying around corners and down the noisy brick streets. I was amazed that my uncle would drive that fast through town and I was having the time of my life! And I lived to tell about it! He also did a lot of loud belching and spitting during that car ride!
Another memory was at Pizza Hut in Peru, Illinois. Uncle Charlie was putting pepper flakes on his pizza and asked if I wanted some too. Not knowing what exactly what they were, but wanting to be a "man" like Uncle Charlie, I said sure! He sprinkled some on my pizza. My first bite...and I was tearing and couldn't find my water fast enough! He just laughed!
Uncle Charlie was a lot of fun to be around and I wish I could have lived closer to him in my adult life to be able to spend more time with him.
Aunt Dru and kids: We're so sorry about the loss of Uncle Charlie. He was always such a fun uncle to be around. As a kid I looked up to him a lot and remember when he came back from his long stay overseas. I remember him demonstrating how to spit long distance about that same time. More recently my kids, Brent and Brigette, remember him, and you, Aunt Dru, as the ones who served us "chocolate beans" (black beans) when we visited you about 8 years ago! It is now our family association with you folks, to keep you straight in the family tree. I treasure the thought of him in Heaven with Grandpa Ross and baby Gabe. We love you folks. You are in our prayers.
