Charlie was always very easy to work with. He cooperated with whatever he was told to do. Sometimes I would dance for him just to lighten up his mood. He would smirk a little bit . I know Mr Charlie is in a better place now.. He was truly truly loved and cared for by his wife and family who made everything possible to keep him comfortable. Forever in our hearts. I pray his wife and family peace during this difficult time.

I am Judy Poore Maynard, Charlie Munroe’s favorite cousin!
Charlie was named after my father, Charles Poore, by Mary Poore Munroe, my father’s twin sister.
Charlie and I didn’t get to know each other until we were in our 40’s. It didn’t take long before we saw each other as two peas in a pod, definitely we took after the Poore side of the family, much to Mimi’s and Lee’s dismay!
It didn’t take long for the four of us to form a special close relationship. Mimi and Charlie are so very special to us. Charlie has been and forever will be missed.
For many years, Charlie and Mimi were devoted supporters of the Museum of Miami (formerly HistoryMiami Museum), and Charlie’s service on the Board of Trustees reflected his deep commitment to preserving our community’s story. He was a generous, gracious man with a radiant smile and a positive attitude.
Seeing Charlie and Mimi was always a joy. His presence, warmth, and dedication made him an irreplaceable part of the fabric of our city’s history. He will be profoundly missed, but his legacy will continue to shape Miami for generations to come.
I have countless fond memories of Charlie and the Munroe family growing up. From Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, boating on Biscayne Bay, BBYC to North Carolina. Charlie was a wonderful and caring man, I loved him dearly and he will be missed. May the Lord bless and comfort the Munroe family in this difficult time.
I feel so fortunate to have had such wonderful parents. My childhood was idyllic in many ways. We were the AnChaWiMa tribe and he was the King. He taught us to love and respect nature, from a beautiful sunset to a tiny insect. He was curious about the world and people and loved to travel. He was a good listener who asked the right questions to draw out people’s stories. He was humble and kind and was always there to lend a hand. He love teaching how things worked and the proper nautical terms of a sailboat. Don’t call it a rope! He could be silly and liked to dress up for special holidays, wearing his Scottish kilt any chance he got. He loved music and musicals, and I remember going to my first broadway musical with him when I was 13, a Chorus Line. He will be fondly remembered.
