O’Connell, Carolyn Beatriz (Svercel) age 74 passed away peacefully on November 10, 2018 She was born March 25, 1944 in San Antonio, Texas to Charles and Beatriz Svercel. She moved to Miami in 1972 and resided here until her death. She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Beatriz and ex-husband Peter J. O’Connell. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Chiong, husband Ramon, granddaughters Claire and Madeline from Port St Lucie, FL, brother George De Leon, and wife Beverly and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by best friend of more than 30 years Ann DeVelasco of Miami, Fl.
Carolyn started her life in San Antonio, TX and then moved to Bayside, New York in 1946. She then returned to San Antonio and attended Incarnate Word College graduating in 1965 with a Bachelor’s in Education. She married Peter J. O’Connell in 1965 and had one child, Lisa, in 1970. In 1972 they moved to Miami where she became a stay at home mom. As a stay at home mom, she was actively involved in Lisa’s school; in later years she loved working for Patient Services at Baptist Hospital. Through multiple health struggles, Carolyn never lost her amazing sense of humor. Her courage and fighting spirit will be remembered always.
