Carol Marian Johnson's Obituary
Carol was born and raised in the time of the Dust Bowl in the Midwest that set the foundation of better times elsewhere. She arrived in Miami in the early 50s working for the airlines as a teletype operator. She loved the freedom of Miami. Her friends were professional women and embraced the openness of Miami. Carol worked for Burger King starting in the 70s and through the early 90s in various capacities. She was always engaged in life on many levels, whether it be serving at South Miami Lutheran Church or taking part in leadership with Sunset Park Garden Club, District 12. She had an affinity for life and exploring; often sailing with Edgar and friends on the bay or traveling the far reaches of he world. She was a voracious reader, usually reading about eight books a week. She passed the love of learning on to her children. A staple of the Johnson home was to gather after dinner for one on one time with mom (or grandma) and learning to read with the youngest members of the family. She was rational, responsible, cheerful, social and curious - having harmonious relationships/partnerships with just about everyone. Everyone was at ease when Carol was involved - love flowed from and through her. She is survived by her husband Edgar of 60 years, her children Martin (Laura, Robert, and Jack), Kristine, and Jennifer (Alex, George), her grandsons Patrick (Monica) and Ethan, and her great grandson Asher. Memorial service will be held at South Miami Lutheran Church on June 5th at 1:30PM. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to South Miami Lutheran Church.
