Calvin Lee Tiger's Obituary
Calvin Lee Tiger (May 12, 1950-January 5, 2023)
Calvin Lee Tiger was born at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida to his mother Anne Marie Winslow and his father, Buffalo Tiger, a former Miccosukee chief. When he was twelve years old, Lee was given a plastic guitar. That gift sparked a life-long love of music, leading Lee to start his first band called The Renegades in 1964, when he was just 14 years old. Throughout his career, Lee and his brother Stephen played in groups such as The Charades, The Seven of Us, Sun Country, the Bangles, and Tiger Tiger. A proud member of the Miccosukee tribe, Lee and Stephen received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Native American Music Association in 2006. He also played a pivotal role in the revitalization of the Miccosukee Indian Arts and Crafts Festival. Lee was the proud father to his children, Summer Tiger (Adam Beach, Mars Tiger Beach), Calvin Tiger, Jr., and Eric Tiger. He was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen and his son, Eric. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 10th, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Woodlawn Park South (11655 SW 117th Ave, Miami, FL 33186).
