Bruce Simonsen, passed away on the 21st of October 2017 at the age of 61 from health complications. He was predeceased by his Mother Joy Ann and his son Kyle.. Bruce, a Miami native, will be dearly missed by his son Brandon and stepson Carlos. He is survived by his loving sisters Dawn and Debbie. Zoe Simonsen, Bruce’s wife of 25 years, passed away on the 26th of October 2017 at the age of 59 from heart complications. She was predeceased by her Father Alfonso and her Husband. Zoe, born in Sancti Spiritus, Cuba and raised in the United States spent her formidable years growing up in Chicago and Miami. She will be dearly missed by her son Carlos and stepson Brandon. She is survived by her loving Mother Aurora, whose heart still beats for her daughter, along with her cousins and family. Bruce and Zoe adored their four grandchildren Odyssea, Kasper, Cayden and Cameron- who will forever treasure the love they shared with them. Bruce was a successful Business entrepreneur and graduate of Coral Gables Senior High School and his Alma Mater The University of Georgia. Zoe a graduate of Miami Senior High School worked much of her life at Mercy Hospital as a respiratory therapist. Bruce and Zoe were avid travelers, who had an incredulous zest for life. Some of their favorite memories were on their trips to Italy and Wine Country, Sonoma, California. Their annual trips to their Georgia Mountain retreat, were moments they always looked forward to. Enjoying the views of the Smoky Mountains, that lush crisp fall air and that red Georgia clay. One of Bruce and Zoe’s favorite pastimes was sharing a bottle of red wine and breaking bread, with their friends and family. They were always eager to share Bruce’s adventures in the kitchen and Zoe’s baked creations… along with their remarkable Christmas Village! You see, Bruce was in his “Happy Place” with a dishtowel strewn across his shoulder, his copper pots simmering on the stove and his perfectly golden Thanksgiving Turkey in the oven. Zoe was in her “Happy Place” decorating the house for every possible holiday, baking boulangerie worthy sugary confections and filling cards to the point of bursting with confetti surprises! They both shared the same gift of making people feel loved. Even if you didn’t speak the same language as Bruce, his caring spirit transcended language. His deep voice, laugh and smile made him a gentle giant, who will be sorely missed by all. Zoe’s love emanated from her vivacious caring spirit and her willingness to give everything of herself was such a prominent characteristic, it-transcended spheres of life and into eternity. Those who were blessed to know Bruce and Zoe’s nurturing love, will forever hold their kindness, tender spirits and open hearts dear. Bruce and Zoe have now found their peace and resting place in one another’s arms.
Their vows to love promised they would never let go, their love kept its word.
We are blessed to have witnessed their love- it will forever be imprinted upon all of our hearts.
