BRUCE ALLEN HYMA's Obituary
Bruce was born on January 1, 1956, in Muskegon, Michigan and was called home on April 17, 2016. He completed undergraduate studies (BS) at Calvin College and medical studies (MD) at Wayne State University (Detroit). He then conducted a pathology residency at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota and a forensic pathology fellowship at the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner Department. He became an associate medical examiner with the department in 1988 and was appointed Chief Medical Examiner in 2001. Bruce remained enthusiastic throughout his professional career, approaching each forensic investigation with an inquisitive mind and a compassionate heart.
He loved his Lord, his family, his church and his office family.
His family and friends remember him for his passion for outdoor activities, including gardening, kayaking, scuba diving and golf. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Janet and together they had three children - Andrea, Brandon and Christopher. Andrea and Damon Wagoner reside in Omaha, Nebraska, with their children Jackson and Jacey. He is also survived by his sister Patricia Hyma.
A service of celebration will be held at South Kendall Community Church 16550 SW 147 Ave Miami, Fl 33187 on Saturday, April 23, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception in the fellowship hall.
