Sally Mcintyre
Part 3 - Tribute to Brian by Sally McIntyre
Brian could also say the most loving things which confirmed that he truly was a Valentine’s Day baby, for instance, when he said to me, “If the world were made up of Sally McIntyres, there would be no wars.” That was Brian through and through - kind to his core. I’ve tightly held onto those words all these years. They rank up there with some of the kindest words anyone has ever said about me and that says a lot because he uttered them forty years ago, and I have since reached senior citizen status.
Brian possessed the rare knack of balancing study, work, and play with ease and grace sprinkled with fat doses of humour. I will always remember his contagious joie de vivre, his deep, insightful musings about life, and his grit and determination when it came to his studies while at the same time managing to remain front and centre in his family and friends’ lives. I witnessed firsthand how much he fiercely loved his mother and sisters, Tracy, and Kelly and how he held them in such a high esteem. He was Tracy and Kelly’s number one fan, protector, and champion. It was crystal clear that his family meant the world to him, and he proudly professed the same, to me.
I am grateful to have known Brian even though he was only in my life a few short years during my young adulthood. There are some people we have the good fortune of knowing in our lifetime who will forever cast a magical spell on our heart and soul and Brian is without a doubt, one of those people, for me. As I was writing my personal remembrances of Brian, the velvety voice of Nat King Cole crooning, the timeless classic song, “Unforgettable,” played over and over again in my head. I don’t believe it was a coincidence either. These are the lyrics of the tune that accompanied me:
Unforgettable
That's what you are.
Unforgettable
Though near or far
May Brian’s wondrous unforgettableness provide his family with comfort and solace during this challenging time.
***A special note to Tracy: I miss you. I love you, and I am here for you. ***
Sincerely and with love,
Sally McIntyre
