Ben was a true man's man, strong as an ox, but he also had a kind and gentle heart.
He loved his family fiercely with great pride. He kept me informed of their many accomplishments.
Ben was also a loyal friend, and was very generous with both himself and his time. He was proud of the work he did, was highly intelligent and also had a great deal of common sense.
About 14 years ago I moved from Miami to Tennessee and bought a foreclosure, that needed a lot of fixing. Ben showed up unannounced with his truck loaded up with just about every tool he owned. He helped me more than anyone else ever has.
Ben was truly "Gentle Ben". His tender heart would cause tears to flow when his dog died or during an emotional spot in a movie.
"His golden heart stopped beating.
His hard working hands are at rest.
It broke our hearts to see him go, but
God only takes the best."
Cheryl, Charlene, and Charlotte, I am so very sorry for your loss. I know where your dad is now, and with whom.
Today a large butterfly flew by my back porch where your dad used to sit and rock. There have been very few this year, maybe 2 or 3 small ones. This one flew right past a banner that hangs there depicting hydrangea flowers and a Monarch butterfly. Then it flew almost straight up, and kept going out of sight. Maybe it was Nancy and your mom giving the message that he is with them now.
God bless. Ben will not be forgotten.
Diane
