YANAKAKIS
Basil Sotirios, 93, of Coral Gables, FL passed away peacefully on Monday, May 8, 2017. He was born in Arcadia, Greece on February 15, 1924. He graduated from the University of Athens School of Law, and went on to receive a Ph.D. from Harvard Law School in 1954. He had a long and distinguished career as a professor and attorney in international law. He was a recognized leader in the Greek-American community and a dedicated member of the Greek Orthodox Church, serving as an Archon and as a founding member of Leadership 100. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy; his children Sophia, Maria, and Sotirios; and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Vasili, Isabella, Constantinos, Katerina, Vasilios, Martha and Ioannis. He is also survived by his brother Yianko and his sister Maria. Visitation 6 pm – 9 pm with Trisagion 7:30 pm Thursday (today) at VAN ORSDEL CORAL GABLES CHAPEL. Funeral Service 11 am Friday at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Burial will be in Greece.
