SPEROPOULOS
Athan John Speropoulos of Miami, Florida passed away on July 26, 2017. Athan was a graduate of Miami High School class of 1960 as salutatorian and subsequently went on to study Medicine at Johns Hopkins University graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in the class of 1964 with the honors of Phi Beta Kappa in the top 10 percent of his class. By personal invitation by the President of Duke University, Athan attended Duke University Medical School. Athan also worked in research at the Research Triangle Institute in biomedical sciences and worked the same at the University of Miami. Upon returning home Athan embarked on the study of his foremost passion of eschatology mixed with history of civilizational development. Athan then wrote a book titled "The Redemption Dynamics of the Soul the A'dam, the Woman Havvah and the man, the Times appointed to the Patriarchs unto the End of Time, the mind of El". This work, which took ten years to write, was the monumental accomplishment of his life. Athan then went on to theorize on how chemicals produce motion and wrote a thesis on a new concept titled "Biothermomechanics". Athan is survived by his brother John Michael Speropoulos and various family members scattered abroad in the United States and Europe. Viewing services will be held at VAN ORSDEL CORAL GABLES CHAPEL on Tuesday August 1st between 6 - 9 PM with Trisagion service at 7:30pm. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday August 2nd at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral with Fr. Spiros presiding at 1:00 pm.
