Arthur L. Baucom's Obituary
BAUCOM, ARTHUR LIVINGSTON, was born on October 17, 1915 in Raleigh, North Carolina to mother, Florrie Jewel Baucom and father Harry Baucom. He was married for 68 years to his wife Ruby in 1939, who passed in 2007, after a long illness. Their only son, David Baucom passed in 1989. He has been a resident of Miami Florida since 1939. Arthur Baucom had two sisters, Foy Hope and Mary Irene, who was his twin. Mary Irene passed at 8 months of age. He is also predeceased by his brothers Herman Baucom, Phillip Baucom and Hubert Baucom. He graduated from Holmes County High School, Bonifay, Florida and Palmer College, De Funiak Springs, Florida. He served in the US Army during World War II in the Philippine Islands as an anti-aircraft gunner. After World War II ended, he became an employee of the US Postal Service in Miami, Florida. After several years at the Postal Service he began his career at Independent Life Insurance Company. He retired as a Vice President from Independent Life Insurance Company of Jacksonville, Florida with over 40 years of service. Arthur is survived by his sister, Foy Hope Clark of Winter Park, Florida, formerly of Miami, Florida, surviving nieces: Claudia Clark Morrow and Brenda Sotis, Carlotta Baucom, Dana Kelm, and Carolyn Alerycht and surviving nephews: Harry Baucom, John Baucom, Steve Baucom, Donald Baucom, and Wesley Clark, as well as numerous great nieces and great nephews residing in Georgia, North Carolina, Oregon, Colorado, Florida, and South Carolina. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted in his name to the West Flagler Park Baptist Church of Miami, where he was a member for many years. A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2009 from 5 pm to 7pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, August 17, 2009 at 11 am followed by interment at Flagler Memorial Park.
