Annette Renee Mayer's Obituary
Annette Renee Mayer (Diaz), 63, born on December 29, 1961, in Miami, Florida passed away
unexpectedly on Saturday, March 15, 2025, in Miami. She was raised in her younger years in North
Miami spending her middle age and high school years in South Miami with her parents and two
sisters. She attended Catholic school in her early years, Blue Lakes Elementary, Glades Middle
School and high school at Southwest Miami Sr. High. Her family expanded once again when her
mother married her stepfather, Charles Dickson. She married Joe Diaz in 1986, and had two
beautiful sons, Nicholas George Diaz and Arias Michael Diaz. In 1993 she met the man she would
spend the rest of her life with, David Wallace adding his beautiful son, Shawn Wallace to her young
family and relocated to Cutler Bay. She worked the majority of her adult life at Vizcaya Museum and
Gardens where she enjoyed event planning and fund raising involving her entire family in as many
activities as possible with Halloween and Christmas being the big events of the year.
Annette loved her family and enjoyed many ventures with David and her three boys from the coast
through the mountains spending many a mile without a destination just lots of fun. Like most in the
family she was fond of the water having assisted her grandfather teaching swimming over many
summers, perfecting her diving and enjoying fun times in the ocean and pool. She was blessed
with a new stepfather in 1983 and gained two sisters and two brothers in short time. She enjoyed
crafting, scrapbooking and jewelry making with her mom, sisters and friends. She held dearly her
trip to Austria and Germany backpacking with her Mom through the sites.
She will always be remembered by her infectious laughter and smiles, love of her family. She was
cherished by and loved dearly by her children and their children and all of her family and friends.
She is predeceased by her father Gerard E. Mayer, Stepfathers Charles Dickson and William R
Riggenbach, Stepbrother Gary Dickson, Brother in law, John Michael Diaz, Grandparents, George
and Thelma Leduc, Grandparents, Helen Spohn, Louis A. Mayer and Rose Mayer. Aunt and Uncles
David and Bonnie LeDuc, William and Patricia Goodrich and cousin Christopher Goodrich.
She is survived by her life partner of 32 years, David Wallace, children, Nicholas George Diaz and
his wife Desiree Diaz, Arias Michael Diaz and his wife Tracy Whiddon, Shawn Wallace and his fiancé
Laura Vogel. Mother Marjorie Dickson, Stepmother, Terry Mayer, sisters and brothers-in-law, Karin
and Frankie Vernis, Connie and Curtis Burton, Stepbrother and sister-in-law, Ricky and Denise
Diden, Stepsister April Diden. Sister in laws, Mayda and Mabel Diaz, Brother in law, Miguel Diaz,
Grandchildren, Madison Rafford, Isabella Diaz, Olivia Diaz, Kira Diaz, Zelda Diaz, Orion Diaz, and to
be expected Orisis Diaz, nieces and nephews Casey and Cody Krueger, Leah and Troy Reynolds,
Brooke Burton, Olivia Hall, grandnieces and grandnephews, Kai, Barrett, Theo, Veda, Celeste and
cousins Jimmy, Billy, Chris, David, Lisa, Lori and Janine and families.
Visitation and Rosary service will be held at Van Orsdel 11220 N. Kendall Drive, Miami, Fl on
Wednesday, 3/19 th 6pm – 9pm.
Mass at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Parish, 9200 SW 107 Avenue, Miami, Fl on Thursday,
3/20 th at 11:00am followed by Graveside services at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery, 11411
NW 25th St, Doral, Fl immediately following mass.
The family suggests that any memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association or The
Alzheimer’s Association.
