Ana Maria Gonzalez Ramos' Obituary
Ana Maria Gonzalez Ramos, 67, of Miami, Florida, and a resident of Boaz, Alabama, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on October 11, 2025. On that same day, she was joyfully reunitedwith her loved ones who had gone before her — her sister Sara Carmona, her brother Domingo Gonzalez, and her fathers, Raul De La Rosa and Domingo Gonzalez and pet Orea— who now rejoice with her in the presence of the Lord.
Ana was born in Havana, Cuba, on January 5th, 1958. She came to Miami, Florida when she was three years old. She graduated from the University of Miami and proudly ran a third year residency program before retiring. After retirement, she worked alongside her husband helping with the family contractor business where she enjoyed interior design and forming meaningful relationships with various clients.
One of her greatest accomplishments and dreams was becoming a mom. With God's help and support from her work colleagues, friends, and family, on September 19, 2002, she accomplished her dream by bringing her daughter Jenny from Memphis, Tennessee to Miami, Florida and adopting her. She formed an immediate bond with her. Throughout Jenny's life she would say, “I may not have not birthed you naturally but I birthed you in my heart.” Her maternal qualitiesconsisted of always putting her daughter first, praying for her, uplifting her always, lending hertime, tears, humor, and more. With her daughter, she enjoyed watching comedy and romantic movies, going shopping, having long conversations about anything and everything, laughing till their bellies hurt, and traveling. She was not only a mom to Jenny, she was a mom to many whom God put in her heart to give maternal love to.
Another cherished accomplishment was finding love again, something she never thought could happen as a result of her health challenges. On April 16, 2023 she married the love of her life, Arturo Ramos, as she would call him her “Boaz” referencing the biblical love story of Ruth and Boaz. Upon marrying Art, her heart and family grew, wholeheartedly, she gained four children Andrew, Chris, Nick, and Lindsey whom she loved as her own. She formed special individualized bonds with each of them. Her summers in Alabama consisted of spending time on her three acres of land where she enjoyed gardening, feeding the humming birds, reading the bible, admiring the countryside of Alabama, and doing picnics by the lake with her husband and dog. She loved to see the transition from summer to winter. In the winter, she did not enjoy how cold it was but made the most of it by making mini snowmans, cooking warm Cuban meals, drinking hot chocolate and tea, watching comfort movies, and visiting national parks.
She spent her life serving others. From opening her home to people in need, to rescuing animals. In her loving husband’s words, “ Whoever she touched, they would never be the same. She imprinted her unbiased love to everyone, and always seemed to find the good in people’s hearts.” She knew she was not perfect but always tried her best to represent a Christ-like lifestyle. Ana was a resilient faith filled woman who never gave up, no matter the challenge. Time and time again, she fought the odds with unwavering determination, faith, and grace. Always knowing how to make serious situations into humorous ones and would say funny sayings such as, “para sufrir hay que estar bien alimentado” or “tengo que reirme porque si no lloro.” Fashion, singing, dancing, praying, and giving advice to others were among the many joys that filled her life. Though her presence is immensely missed here on Earth, her spirit lives on in the heart of those she touched. We rejoice in the promise of eternal life and look forward to the day we will see her again.
“My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me so that you also may be where I am.” John 14:2-3
Ana Maria Gonzalez Ramos is survived by her husband, Arturo Ramos; her children, Jennifer E. Gonzalez, Jose Galvez-Lafuente, Andrew Ramos, Lindsey Ramos, Nicholas Ramos, and Christopher Smith; her mother, Justina De La Rosa; her brother, Robert Gonzalez; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved pups, Daisy and Oscar, her cat, Lucy, along with her daughter’s pets — Turbo aka “turby boy” and Matilda aka “matti” — whom she affectionately referred to as her ‘grandchildren’. They brought her endless joy and comfort.
