Pastor Ambrose Napoleon Gumbs Sr., was born on November 7, 1943 on the beautiful island of Anguilla, British West Indies. He was the eldest son of the late Alfred H. Gumbs aka ‘Fred’ and Alma S. Gumbs aka ‘Dearie’. He died at the age of 75, on January 15, 2019 in Miami, Florida. He was married to his lovely wife of 43 years, Luz Maria Gumbs on March 29, 1975. At the age of 17, Pastor Gumbs moved to the island of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. He eventually landed his employment at Caneel Bay Resort, St. John. His employment there would mark the beginning of his career in the hospitality industry in the Virgin Islands and Anguilla which lasted for more than 50 years altogether.
In addition to his career in the hospitality industry, Pastor Gumbs answered to the call of the Gospel. He pastored, and in some cases, he pioneered ministries within the U.S. Virgin Islands and Anguilla. He last pastored Word of Life Ministries, Rey Hill, Anguilla up to when he fell ill in January of 2013.
Throughout his years, Pastor Gumbs was loved by many near and far. He had a love for people in a compassionate and giving way.
