Alvan Winford Webber's Obituary
Alvan Winford Webber, Age 87, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at his home in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Mr. Webber was born June 17, 1931 to Stela V. (Ericson) Webber and Wesley W. Webber of Braintree, Massachusetts and was the only brother to Judy and Sylvia Webber.
He was married to Rose Marie Webber, wife, for 41 memorable and glorious years before her passing in year 2001. He is survived by 3 wonderful children, his son Eric Alvan Webber (Wife Anne), two daughters Lisa Marie Russo (Husband Joseph), and Pamela Candice Amador (Husband Frank aka Donny) and all his grandchildren (Brent, Joseph, Renee, Donald, and Curtis).
Alvan Webber had enormous love for his country and conveyed this commitment by serving as a Corporal in the Army with an “Honorable Discharge” on March 9, 1954.
His educational studies included attending Boston University (BU) where he graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Marketing and Retailing in 1957. He was an outstanding athlete and played 4 years of collegiate scholarship tennis for the red and white terriers of BU!
Alvan’s professional career encompassed working at some of the largest U.S. retail chains as an Store Manager for over 40 years (1957-1997) where his impeccable leadership skills earned him the love and adoration of all his subordinates until he retired in year 1998.
Big Al’s favorite past time was reading from essayists Walt Whitman and Ralph Waldo Emerson “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us”. Al’s own self written poems were always admired and enjoyed by everyone at every occasion.
Alvan Winford Webber was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend to everyone and always had a way or staying positive and making everyone feel important and appreciated. Rest in peace and may God watch over your soul with love and kindness.
A Funeral Service honoring his life will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11:00am at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church, 14260 Old Cutler Road, Miami, Florida 33158. The Presiding Reverend is Rev. Spencer Potter. The Memorial Reception will take place at Saint Andrew's after the Funeral Services.
In lieu of flowers, the Webber family wishes that donations be given to Saint Andrews Episcopal Church in behalf of Alvan Winford Webber.
