ALICE MAY SARSFIELD's Obituary
Alice May Nilsson-Sarsfield was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 24, 1920. She lived 92 years, “one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time, and accepting hardships as the pathway to peace.”
It was at Sweeny’s by the Sea in Coney Island, NY where she first saw Joseph Sarsfield. It was truly love at first sight—they were married after only six weeks. They were a perfect pair. In fact, Alice once said she could not possibly share her own story without also telling his as they were so entwined. They danced beautifully together both on the dance floor and through 59 years of marriage. Alice was blessed with and grateful for her family, which she always described as being like fudge, “sweet and full of nuts.” Among those nuts, she counted her two beloved sons, Kevin and Dennis; her nephews, Ronald and Kenneth; and her nieces, Beverly and Jacquelyn.
Though Alice & Joe eventually moved to Florida, a big part of both their hearts forever remained in Brooklyn. After many long years of laughter and love, Alice drew her last breath on January 13, 2013—Joe’s birthday. Clearly, she had an invitation to his party.
Alice is survived by her son, Kevin; her daughter-in-law, Liliam; and her two granddaughters, Suzanne & Michelle.
We will be honoring Grandma Alice and remembering her life from 3P - 11P today, Wednesday, January 16 in the Serenity Room at Van Orsdel Kendall Chapel 11220 North Kendall Drive (3050 279-6644
