Alfredo Piccini's Obituary
PICCINI
ALFREDO "FRED", 7/3/29--7/20/11. A kind, gentle and generous man, Fred was born in Florence, Italy on July 3, 1929 to Gastone and Dora Piccini. Fred moved to the United States at 5 and settled in Chicago with his family. He attended Notre Dame University, where he met his lovely bride-to-be, Celia Axnix. Fred and Celia married at Notre Dame--a marriage that would last for over 57 years. In 1954, they moved to Miami. After graduating from University of Miami law school, Fred and his brother Silvio built—literally--South Dade Properties, a company providing low income housing to families for over 50 years. Three generations of tenants loved and will miss “Mr. Fred.” Fred was in every sense a family man and Dad to many--whether driving kids to school in his pajamas, much to the chagrin of the nuns, or offering “Pearls of Wisdom”, and teaching valuable life lessons to all who were fortunate enough gathered at his kitchen table. He was a Master Boy Scout Leader for over 16 years at St. Theresa School and was active in Cursillo for 30+ years. Fred is survived by his wonderful wife Celia, siblings Silvio Piccini and Marina Cusimano; children Dora Piccini, Anna (Bill) Sweetnam, Dante (Kelly) Piccini, Lisa (Jay) Bock, and Jeno (Shari) Piccini; grandchildren; Caitlin, Drew, Emmi, Faye, Genna, Celia Davanne, Starla, Fredo, Savannah, Angelina, Kimarie, Lindi, Peyton, Silvio, Dante, Ronnie, Joey and Dominic, great grandchildren; Ashlyn and Avenlea; close friends Pat and Parvin Johnson and family, Larry Martz and Gucci. A heartfelt thank you to God, for his special gift of Samantha Martinez for her outstanding care and love. Viewing is Friday, 5 to 8 pm, at VAN ORSDEL CORAL GABLES (4600 SW 8th Street). Funeral mass is at 10 am on Sat at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please make checks payable to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or LLS, of South Florida, 2 Oakwood Blvd., Suite 200, Hollywood, FL 33020.
