You were larger than life to me. You were my first friend, and I thank you for all the love, drop kicks, and entertainment that made my childhood so much fun. Thank you for always dividing our room in half when we fought—even though I always ended up on the side without an exit. I miss sharing a bunk bed with you and listening to your stories when we couldn’t fall asleep.
Thanks for helping me try to become an Olympic gymnast in our backyard, even if it led to me having a broken arm. Thank you for the concerts, the laughs, the insults that were all in good fun, and the random phone calls that always began with, “Do you have a second?”
I’ll be waiting for signs, just like Dad. Don’t fail me.
Love,
Little Diaz
