Aileen R. Salokar's Obituary
Salokar,
Aileen H. (nee Radomski), 84, passed away peacefully at home on June 20, 2011. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Aileen met her true love in May 1951 at a USO. Claude Salokar of Miami (owner of Ludway Bar) was nearing the end of his military tour in LA when he asked Aileen to dance. Engaged in June, she married the “tall, dark and handsome man of her dreams” in August and moved to Miami. Within a year, Claude built their dream house in Schenley Park where they lived the rest of their lives and attended Little Flower Church. A full-time mother to four adopted children, Aileen later worked as a legal secretary and volunteered at Fairchild Tropical Garden and South Miami Hospital. Her passion was her own garden of native plants, roses and palms. After Claude’s death, Aileen met and married Michael “Mickey” Costa of West Miami. Aileen is survived by her children, Rebecca “Becky” (Judy Rubenstein), Christine and Frank (Rosemary) and grandchildren, Jonathan and Kelly; predeceased by Claude and Mickey, and son, Thomas. Visitation 6 – 8 pm Thursday, June 23, 2011 at VAN ORSDEL CORAL GABLES, and Mass 1 pm Friday June 24, Little Flower Church in Coral Gables. Burial Our Lady of Mercy.
