What can I say but THANK YOU Dr. Jennings! I was the worst case with my hip condition seen in the U.S. for over 13 years at just 13 years old and after Jackson Memorial Hospital destroyed me, we found Dr. Jennings and he encouraged me to go the most pain free way, but as a stubborn kid, I refused to go that route and when he saw the tenacity with which I was determined to walk like a normal person, he told me he was impressed with how immediately I chose the more difficult and vastly more painful route, and together with his partner, they set out to create a new prosthetic that would suit me, and after almost 13 months, he called to inform me the prosthetic was ready.
That was the prototype for the modern hip prostheses, and at almost 52 years of age, I still have that very prosthetic in me, and every surgeon I've seen since has studied my case and know of the contribution Dr Jennings made in the world of prosthetics. But to me, he's the man that fixed me, the same one who told me he didn't care of in the future I had insurance or not, He'd see me and do anything he could regardless if I could pay him or not.
So for me personally, though he was tough with me at times, his humanity and kindness are what I remember most. THANK YOU so much Dr. Jennings. You are never too far away from any conversation as I take great pride in the fact YOU were my doctor, my savior and one of the few doctors who really made me feel how much they cared about me.
Goodbye and Rest well, you've done more than your part on this earth.
