    May 10, 1946 - March 3, 2022

    William “Roger” Russin May 10, 1946 – March 3, 2022 William Roger Russin, age 75, passed away due to complications of Covid. Roger was born in Baltimore, MD to the late Wasco J. and Virginia B. Russin. Roger grew up in Woodlawn, MD, where he was a founding member of the Woodlawn Thunderbolts football team. He graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1964. He attended the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and was a four-year member of the Cadet Corps, graduating in 1968 with a degree in Aero Space Engineering. He continued his studies at George Mason University graduating with a Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Following graduation, Roger worked for NASA at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama and later at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, VA. Roger also worked for GE doing project research in hypersonic propulsion in Cincinnati, Ohio. Following his engineering career, Roger attended the Lutheran Missouri Synod Seminary and obtained a Master’s Degree in Theology and moved to Smyrna, DE. In Smyrna is where he worked as a Lutheran Pastor of Peace Lutheran Church and an Adjunct Physics Instructor at Delaware Tech. Roger later moved to Coral Gables, FL, where he worked as a computer coding contractor. He was very active in the political action committee Defend Florida, where he cultivated many close friendships. He enjoyed traveling the back roads of America and visited virtually all of the states recording his explorations for friends and family to share. Roger is survived by his two daughters, Heather A. Marr (James), Gretchen E. Rose (Dave); four grandchildren, Christopher, Reagan, Cody and Caden; 1 great-granddaughter, Oaklynn Jane; brother Randall (Mary); niece Amy Baum (Tim), nephew Christopher (pre-deceased), nephew Jeremy (Patty) and great nieces and nephews. Arrangements: First Baptist Church of Westward Lakes, FL 5801 SW 120th Ave Miami, FL 33183 March 20, 2022, 3:00 PM In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roger’s honor to: The Multiple Sclerosis Society Donate | National Multiple Sclerosis Society (nationalmssociety.org) The Leukemia Society Donate to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (lls.org)
