Patrick Ronald Kinney

March 15, 1962 - January 29, 2022

Patrick Ronald Kinney, age 59, of Cutler Bay, Florida, was called home on Saturday, January 29, 2022. Patrick was born on March 15, 1962, in New Haven, Connecticut, to parents Ronald Kinney and Angelina (De Seta) Levix. He moved to Miami at age 5, and graduated from Palmer High School. He played football throughout high school and at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. He received a Criminology degree from Florida State University, and a Master’s Degree from University of Phoenix. Patrick met Renee Veldhuizen at Fellowship House where they both worked as Vocational Rehabilitation counselors. Within one month, he told a co-worker, “she could be my wife someday.” They were married on January 25, 1992, and were married for 30 years and 3 days. Patrick and Renee adopted Jasmine shortly after her birth in November 2003. Patrick worked for Miami-Dade County Department of Human Services for almost 25 years. For many of those years he was fortunate to work in his dream job helping victims of crime, including hundreds of domestic violence victims. He worked very hard, helped so many people, and faithfully supported his family. He was very proud of the awards he received recognizing his service to his community. In 2014, Patrick became disabled and required in-home 24-hour care for his last 7 years. He was grateful to so many caregivers who blessed him with wonderful care over the years. If you knew Patrick, you likely knew about all the things he loved and enjoyed, because he wanted everyone to share in the joy. He loved Italian food, and he loved the Sweet Tomatoes restaurant. He loved music from the 60’s and 70’s, especially Neil Diamond. He had 33 years of sobriety and helped many others through AA and Celebrate Recovery. He loved college football, especially the Seminoles. He loved his family and was so proud of his daughter Jasmine. Most importantly of all, he loved Jesus, and his church, Miami Vineyard. Only God knows how many people he invited to church over the years. No doubt Patrick will be greeted in heaven by many who are there because of his faithfulness in sharing his “God stories” of miraculous recovery from so many challenges. Patrick is survived by his wife Renee, daughter Jasmine, parents Ronald Kinney Sr and Veronica Kinney; brother Ronald (Sophy) Kinney; sister Joann Williams; siblings John (Angela) Levix, Deborah Levix, and Catherine Dobson Bordeur; and nieces and nephews Erin Levix Carrubba, Joshua Levix, Billy Dobson, Joseph Milan, Madison Kinney, Mia Kinney, and McKenzie Kinney. He is preceded in death by his mother Angelina Kinney and niece Tanya Dobson.
